ADMISSIONS (2013): Every (Single) Parent’s Story

I love Tina Fey; I adore Paul Rudd; and they look good together in a poster, but their movie Admissions is short of romantic and funny, BUT the movie has a heart, and it is very touching.

The movie Admissions is about a Princeton Admissions Officer,  Portia

Nathan (Tina Fey) who is very organized to the point of almost being obsessive-compulsive. She works very hard, takes her work seriously, and is constantly on the lookout for Princeton’s potentials.

Portia meets John Pressman (Paul Rudd), founder of an alternative school. Pressman introduces her to a college-bound boy, Jeremiah (Nat Wold) and her picture of a Princeton potentials changes and she goes to the brink of compromising her career.

While the chemistry between Tina Fey and Paul Rudd was not as wonderful as I’ve expected, the story did not fail me. It tells of how far a person would go to make up for the missed times with a loved one. It shows how, sometimes, the kind of person we hate most, is the kind that we turn out to be.

This story is not really a love story between couples; this is a collection of love stories between single parents, adoptive parents, biological parents, all kinds of parents and their kids.

By the way, there is a bonus of insight on how tedious and competitive the selection process is in prestigious universities. But this really isn’t that much fun to see.

So, if you’re not into so much depth in a movie and if all you want is to feel the love then this movie is for you!
